Salvador International Airport (AIES) Expansion Project

Salvador International Airport (AIES) Expansion Project

In early 2022, Dongguan GERITEL Electrical Co., Ltd. provided tailored electrical wire solutions for the expansion project of El Salvador’s San Oscar Arnulfo Romero y Galdámez International Airport (AIES), a key infrastructure initiative with a total investment of $56 million. Facing pain points such as the need for UL-certified products, tight delivery timelines, and diverse wiring requirements, the AIES project team chose GERITEL for our rich experience in large-scale infrastructure projects, complete UL certification, and professional pre-sales and after-sales support. The core products supplied included THHN nylon insulated copper wire (12 AWG, 10 AWG, 8 AWG), MC Cable (4 AWG to 1/0 AWG), and Type TC-ER Power Cables (2/0 AWG to 4/0 AWG), each selected for their unique advantages in adapting to different airport scenarios. All products met strict UL standards (UL 62 for THHN nylon insulated copper wire, UL 1569 for MC Cable, UL 1277 for Type TC-ER Power Cables) and used high-purity copper conductors complying with ASTM B-3 standards. Delivered in three batches between June and October 2022, the products ensured the stable operation of the airport’s electrical system, contributing to the project’s successful completion in February 2023. This cooperation demonstrated GERITEL’s ability to provide reliable, certified electrical wire solutions for critical infrastructure projects, winning recognition from the project team and laying a foundation for future cooperation in El Salvador.

PNG Rural PV Microgrid Cable Export
PNG Rural PV Microgrid Cable Export
This case study details Dongguan GERITEL Electrical Co., Ltd.’s successful collaboration with a Papua New Guinea (PNG) engineering firm on a rural PV microgrid project under the PNG Electrification Partnership initiative in Q1 2025. Located in Enga Province, the project aimed to electrify 8 remote villages benefiting over 1,500 residents—addressing PNG’s critical rural power shortage where only 15% of the rural population has reliable access. GERITEL provided a tailored cable solution comprising SAA-certified Medium Voltage Cables, TPS Cables, and Elastomer Cables (a core outdoor cable for PV applications). The solution overcame key challenges: non-compliant local cables, harsh tropical environmental conditions, tight 6-month project timelines, and custom requirements for PV-specific cable performance. Key strengths included SAA certification (mandatory for PNG projects), proven experience in Pacific Island electrification projects, strict quality control ensuring low resistance and environmental durability, and efficient 45-day delivery (15 days ahead of schedule). Post-completion, the cables operated flawlessly for over 6 months without insulation failure or outages, stabilizing power transmission, simplifying maintenance, and boosting PV system efficiency. The project delivered tangible social and economic value, empowering local households with electricity and supporting small business growth. GERITEL’s end-to-end support—from technical consultation to on-site guidance and a 5-year warranty—solidified long-term client trust, positioning the company as a reliable partner for PNG’s rural electrification and global PV microgrid projects.
