Algeria Noor Solar Power Project
GERITEL
Apr 11,2026
In recent years, Algeria has been accelerating its transition to renewable energy, with solar power projects becoming a key driver of its energy strategy. The Noor Solar Power Complex, located in the southern region of Algeria, is one of the country’s landmark renewable energy projects, aiming to address the growing demand for clean electricity and reduce reliance on fossil fuels. As a professional wire and cable exporter with rich international project experience, we were honored to participate in this project, providing high-quality wires that solved the client’s core pain points and ensured the smooth progress of the solar power construction. This case will detail how we used our professional strength, IEC certification advantages, and high-quality products to support the Algeria Noor Solar Power Project, bringing reliable energy transmission solutions to the client.
1. Algeria Noor Solar Power Construction and Client Pain Points
The Algeria Noor Solar Power Project is a large-scale photovoltaic (PV) power generation project located in the Sahara Desert region of southern Algeria, covering an area of over 2,000 hectares. Launched in 2022, the project is designed to have a total installed capacity of 500MW, which will provide stable clean electricity for nearly 400,000 households in Algeria after completion. As a key part of the project, the selection of wires and cables directly affects the safety, stability, and service life of the entire PV system, so the client has extremely high requirements for the quality and reliability of the products.
Before cooperating with us, the client faced several critical pain points that hindered the project progress. First, the harsh environmental conditions in the Sahara Desert—high temperature (up to 50℃ in summer), strong ultraviolet radiation, and large temperature differences between day and night—posed severe challenges to the performance of wires. The client had previously tested wires from other suppliers, but most of them had problems such as insulation aging, sheath cracking, and poor high-temperature resistance, which could easily lead to power transmission failures and even safety hazards. Second, the project required compliance with international electrical standards, and the client struggled to find suppliers with formal IEC certification (IEC 62930 and IEC 60228), which is a mandatory requirement for Algerian renewable energy projects. Without this certification, the products could not pass customs inspection or meet the project’s safety standards. Third, the client needed a supplier with rich experience in large-scale solar power projects, as they hoped to avoid potential risks in product selection, installation guidance, and after-sales service. Finally, the project had a tight construction schedule, and the client required timely delivery of products to ensure that the installation progress was not delayed.
After multiple rounds of screening and comparison, the client chose us as their wire supplier, mainly because of our complete IEC certification, rich experience in international solar projects, and high-quality product performance that could perfectly address their pain points.
2. Tailored Wires for Algeria Noor Solar Project
After in-depth communication with the client, we fully understood their project needs, environmental conditions, and technical requirements, and customized a set of wire solutions including H05V-K, H1Z2Z2-K Solar Cable, and Solar Panel Extension Cable. The total purchase quantity of wires for the project reached 180,000 meters, covering all key links of the PV system, from solar panel connection to power transmission.
First, for the H1Z2Z2-K Solar Cable, which is the core wire of the PV system, we provided multiple specifications according to the project’s power transmission needs, including the key specification 1x4mm H1Z2Z2-K Solar Cable. This cable is specially designed for solar power systems, using electron-beam cross-linked XLPO insulation and sheath materials, which have excellent high-temperature resistance, UV resistance, and ozone resistance—perfectly adapting to the harsh desert environment in Algeria. Compared with ordinary solar cables on the market, which usually use PVC materials, our H1Z2Z2-K Solar Cable has better aging resistance and a service life of up to 25 years, which is 3 times longer than that of PVC cables. In addition, the 1x4mm specification is specially selected for the project’s medium-distance power transmission, which can effectively reduce energy loss and ensure stable power transmission efficiency.
Second, the H05V-K wire is used for the auxiliary power supply of the PV system, such as connecting inverters, distribution boxes, and other equipment. We provided H05V-K wires with specifications of 1x1.5mm², 1x2.5mm², and 1x4mm², which are flexible and easy to install, suitable for the complex installation environment of the solar power station. The H05V-K wire adopts high-purity tinned copper conductors, which have good electrical conductivity and corrosion resistance, ensuring stable auxiliary power supply for the system. Compared with other similar wires, our H05V-K wire has passed strict flame retardant tests (complying with EN 60332-1-2) and can effectively prevent fire accidents caused by wire short circuits.

Third, the Solar Panel Extension Cable is used for the connection between solar panels, with specifications of 2x4mm² and 2x6mm². This cable is designed with a waterproof and dustproof structure, with an IP67 protection level, which can effectively prevent dust and rainwater from entering the cable, ensuring stable connection between panels even in harsh outdoor environments. Unlike ordinary extension cables, our Solar Panel Extension Cable is compatible with all mainstream solar connectors, which greatly improves the installation efficiency and reduces the risk of connection failure.
3. IEC Certification and Strict Quality Control
The client attached great importance to the safety and compliance of the products, and our IEC certification and strict quality control system became the core guarantee for winning their trust. All the wires we provided for the project have passed IEC 62930 (for solar cables) and IEC 60228 (for conductors) certifications, as well as CE and CPR certifications, fully complying with international electrical standards and the relevant requirements of the Algerian renewable energy industry. This not only ensured that the products passed customs inspection smoothly but also laid a solid foundation for the safe operation of the entire PV system.
