In early 2025, we partnered with a leading construction firm in Trinidad and Tobago to support the San Fernando Campus Power Distribution Project—a critical infrastructure initiative aimed at upgrading the electrical system of a major educational campus in San Fernando, Trinidad and Tobago. The project, categorized as a public education infrastructure power distribution upgrade, required high-quality, certified electrical cables to ensure safe, stable, and long-term power supply for classrooms, laboratories, administrative buildings, and outdoor facilities. After a rigorous selection process, our company was chosen as the exclusive electrical cable supplier to solve the client’s core pain points and ensure the project’s timely completion.
1. Project Background & Client Pain Points
The San Fernando Campus Power Distribution Project was a high-priority project for the local education authority, with a strict deadline of 6 months from initiation to completion. The client, a well-known construction company specializing in public infrastructure, faced several critical challenges that threatened to delay the project and compromise its safety standards—common pain points for infrastructure projects in Trinidad and Tobago, where access to certified, high-quality electrical components is limited.
First, the client struggled to find a supplier that could provide cables with valid UL certification. As the project was funded in part by international education grants, it required compliance with North American safety standards, and UL certification (a globally recognized mark of safety and quality from Underwriters Laboratories) was a non-negotiable requirement. Many local and regional suppliers could not provide genuine UL certification, putting the project’s funding and compliance at risk. Second, the client needed a supplier with proven experience in similar campus or public infrastructure power distribution projects; generic cable suppliers lacked the expertise to recommend the right products for the campus’s diverse needs, such as different temperature and environmental conditions across indoor and outdoor areas. Third, the project’s tight timeline demanded fast delivery—any delay in cable supply would push back the entire construction schedule, leading to costly penalties. Finally, the client required cables that could withstand Trinidad and Tobago’s tropical climate, including high humidity, occasional heavy rainfall, and temperature fluctuations, which meant standard cables would not be durable enough.
After researching potential suppliers, the client selected our company due to our UL certification, extensive experience in similar projects, proven quality control systems, and commitment to fast delivery—factors that directly addressed their core pain points.
2. Customized Solution: Choosing the Right Cables for the Campus Project
To meet the project’s unique requirements, we conducted a detailed analysis of the campus’s power distribution needs, including load capacity, installation environment, and safety standards. We recommended four key cable types, each selected for specific advantages that made them superior to alternative options, and provided detailed specifications to ensure perfect alignment with the project’s goals.
The TC-ER Cable was chosen for the campus’s main power distribution lines, which required durability and flexibility for installation in cable trays and conduit systems. We supplied TC-ER Cable in sizes 12 AWG to 4/0 AWG, with a voltage rating of 600V, designed to withstand mechanical stress during installation and long-term use. Unlike standard tray cables, our TC-ER Cable features a flame-retardant XLPE insulation and a tough outer jacket, making it resistant to abrasion and damage—critical for a busy campus environment where construction and maintenance activities are frequent. Its UL 1277 certification ensures compliance with North American safety standards, eliminating the client’s compliance concerns.
For indoor wiring in classrooms and administrative buildings, we recommended XHHW Wire in sizes 14 AWG to 2 AWG. XHHW Wire is known for its high heat resistance (rated for 90°C in dry locations) and chemical resistance, making it ideal for indoor spaces where temperature can rise due to electrical equipment and tropical weather. Compared to alternative wires like RHW, XHHW Wire has a more durable XLPE insulation that resists aging and cracking, reducing the need for future maintenance—a key advantage for a campus that requires long-term, low-maintenance power infrastructure. Our XHHW Wire is UL 444 certified, further reinforcing its safety and quality credentials.
For indoor areas with higher heat loads, such as laboratories and electrical rooms, we supplied THHN Wire in sizes 10 AWG to 3/0 AWG. THHN Wire features a thermoplastic insulation and nylon jacket, rated for 90°C in dry locations, and is designed for use in conduit systems. Unlike THW wire (a common alternative), THHN Wire has a smoother jacket that reduces friction during installation, saving time and labor costs for the client. Its UL 83 certification ensures it meets strict fire safety standards, critical for areas with sensitive equipment and large numbers of people.
For outdoor power distribution, including lighting, irrigation systems, and outdoor walkways, we provided THWN Wire in sizes 12 AWG to 1 AWG—including the THWN electrical cable PVC insulation variant, which is specifically designed to withstand wet and humid environments. The PVC insulation on our THWN Wire provides superior water resistance, making it ideal for Trinidad and Tobago’s tropical climate, where heavy rainfall and high humidity are common. Unlike THHN Wire (which is only suitable for dry or damp locations), THWN Wire is rated for 75°C in wet locations, ensuring reliable performance even in harsh outdoor conditions. Its UL 83 certification confirms its safety for outdoor use, and the PVC insulation adds an extra layer of protection against moisture and corrosion, extending the cable’s lifespan.

3. Customized Technical Support and Full-Cycle After-Sales Service
Different from the model of ordinary suppliers that "only supply goods but not services", one of our core advantages is providing full-cycle customized technical support and after-sales guarantee, which is also a key factor for the client to finally choose us. As a construction enterprise, the client has rich construction experience, but still has needs in professional electrical fields such as cable selection adaptation and on-site installation specifications. However, local suppliers cannot provide such supporting services, which often leads to low installation efficiency and frequent hidden dangers in the later period.
For this project, we set up an exclusive technical team to follow up the project progress throughout the process: in the early stage, combined with the campus power distribution load and installation environment (indoor and outdoor temperature difference, humidity), we provided one-on-one selection guidance for the client, clarifying the specifications, installation methods and precautions of each type of cable, so as to avoid resource waste and potential safety hazards caused by improper selection; in the middle stage, we sent technical specialists to provide remote guidance on construction, answering problems encountered during on-site installation, such as the fixing of TC-ER Cable tray laying and the waterproof treatment of THWN Wire outdoor joints, ensuring standardized installation and improving construction efficiency; in the later stage, we established an after-sales tracking mechanism, conducted regular return visits within 3 months after the project was completed, checked potential cable operation hazards, and provided maintenance guidance, completely solving the client’s "worries".
In addition, our after-sales response speed is leading in the industry. We promise to respond to customer demands within 24 hours and provide solutions within 48 hours. Compared with the response cycle of more than 72 hours of local suppliers, it greatly improves the problem-solving efficiency and ensures the smooth progress of the project. This integrated service of "supply + technology + after-sales" allows the client to avoid hiring additional professional electrical consultants, which not only saves costs but also ensures project quality.
4. Cost-Effectiveness and Local Adaptation Capability
When selecting suppliers, in addition to focusing on product quality and delivery efficiency, the client also attached great importance to cost control—public education projects have limited budgets, and it is necessary to maximize cost-effectiveness on the premise of ensuring compliance and quality. At the same time, Trinidad and Tobago has its own particularities in power grid specifications and climate conditions, and ordinary imported cables often have the problem of insufficient adaptability, which is also an important pain point for the client.
With the advantages of large-scale production and a mature supply chain system, we provided the client with a more competitive quotation on the basis of ensuring product quality (UL certification, strict quality control). Compared with similar products of local suppliers, the cost-effectiveness was improved by more than 20%, helping the client effectively control the project procurement cost. At the same time, we conducted in-depth research on the tropical climate and power grid voltage standards of Trinidad and Tobago, and optimized the supplied cables for local adaptation: in view of the local high humidity and frequent heavy rains, we strengthened the waterproof and anti-corrosion performance of the THWN electrical cable PVC insulation; in view of the local power grid voltage requirements, we fine-tuned the cable conductor material to ensure that the cable is perfectly adapted to the local power grid, avoiding problems such as unstable voltage and equipment damage.
In addition, we are familiar with the import policies and customs procedures of Trinidad and Tobago, sorted out all compliance documents in advance, which not only avoided customs delays but also provided the client with import customs clearance assistance, reducing the client’s import costs and operational difficulties. This dual advantage of "high cost-effectiveness + local adaptation" not only met the client’s cost needs but also solved the problem of insufficient adaptability of ordinary imported cables, becoming the key for us to stand out.

The San Fernando Campus Power Distribution Project was completed on time in late 2025, thanks to our reliable cable supply and proactive support. The cables we delivered have performed exceptionally well, providing a stable, safe power supply for the entire campus. The TC-ER Cable has reliably supported the main power distribution system, with no issues related to abrasion or mechanical damage. The XHHW Wire andTHHN Wire have performed flawlessly in indoor areas, maintaining stable performance even during peak heat conditions. The THWN Wire, including the THWN electrical cable PVC insulation variant, has withstood Trinidad and Tobago’s tropical weather, with no signs of moisture damage or corrosion—proving its durability in harsh outdoor environments.
The client reported that the cables have exceeded their expectations in terms of quality and performance. The UL certification ensured the project passed all safety inspections, and the fast delivery allowed them to avoid delays and penalties. Additionally, the low maintenance requirements of our cables have reduced the client’s long-term operational costs, as they do not need to replace or repair cables frequently.
