This article will detail the implementation process, solutions and cooperation value of the project, providing reference for customers with similar needs.
Project Background: Core Dilemmas and Needs of Dutch PV Projects
This project is located in the southern part of the Netherlands, covering a large-scale agri-solar complementary power plant and an industrial rooftop PV power plant. It is a phased development project with a total installed capacity of 50MW, making it one of the key renewable energy projects in the region. With the rapid growth of renewable energy installed capacity in Europe, the problems of grid absorption and approval delays in the Netherlands have become increasingly prominent. Since the project was launched, it has faced many difficulties, and these pain points have also become the core considerations for the customer in selecting cooperative suppliers.
The customer's core pain points are concentrated in six aspects: first, tight grid connection capacity, serious queuing for grid access locally, and the project cannot achieve full power generation, directly affecting power generation benefits; second, complex phased development processes, frequent adjustments to design schemes in different stages, leading to repeated revisions of cable schemes and delaying project progress; third, long transmission distance, the transmission distance between the ground-mounted power plant and the step-up station, and between the rooftop PV plant and the transformer all exceed 1000 meters, and the loss of conventional cables is too large, affecting power generation efficiency; fourth, complex terrain, some areas of the ground-mounted power plant are interlaced with farmland and water areas, with limited construction routes, requiring extremely high flexibility and waterproof performance of cables; fifth, high maintenance difficulty, the climate in the Netherlands is humid, and the project design life is 25 years, requiring strict long-term stability and low failure rate of cables; sixth, unstable supply chain, local European cable suppliers have long delivery cycles and large price fluctuations, which cannot guarantee the phased delivery needs of the project.
When selecting suppliers, in addition to requiring matching cable specifications and timely delivery, the customer pays more attention to the compliance and quality stability of products, especially emphasizing that cables must have European and international authoritative certifications and be able to adapt to local Dutch PV project standards and complex working conditions. This is the core reason why the customer finally chose us - our PV wires and medium-voltage cables all have complete international certifications, and we have rich experience in undertaking similar PV projects, able to provide full-process services from scheme design to delivery and maintenance.
Product Overview: Supported by Compliance Certifications, Adapting to Dutch PV Project Needs
In response to the multi-scenario needs of this project, we accurately matched three types of core cables on the DC side, AC side and medium-voltage side. All products have passed international authoritative certifications, and their specifications and performance are fully adapted to the strict requirements of Dutch PV projects. In addition, they have differentiated advantages in structural design and material selection, which are different from ordinary cables and can effectively solve project pain points.
The DC side (module → inverter) adopts H1Z2Z2-K Solar Cable, a special cable designed specifically for PV systems. Its core advantages lie in outstanding weather resistance, UV resistance and waterproof performance, which are fully adapted to the humid and rainy climate in the Netherlands. The specifications selected are 1×4mm² and 1×6mm². The conductor is made of high-purity oxygen-free copper, with excellent electrical conductivity and low resistance loss; both the insulation layer and the sheath are made of cross-linked polyolefin (XLPO) material, which has been treated with special technology. The long-term working temperature can reach -40℃~90℃, and the short-term overload temperature can withstand up to 120℃, which can adapt to extreme outdoor environments; the structure adopts a single-core halogen-free low-smoke flame-retardant design, with a gel content of more than 85%, which effectively inhibits water molecule penetration. At the same time, it has excellent mechanical stress resistance, with a smooth and round surface, which is convenient for threading and construction; the color is black, which has good UV resistance, avoiding sheath aging caused by long-term outdoor exposure. This product has passed TUV certification (Certificate No. B 126326 0001 Rev.00), fully complying with European PV cable standards and can be directly used for module connection in Dutch PV projects.

The AC side (inverter → transformer) adopts YJV cable XLPE Insulated 0.6/1kV Copper Cable, with specifications of 3×120mm² and 3×185mm², specially designed for long-distance power transmission needs. Compared with ordinary PVC insulated cables, this product uses XLPE (cross-linked polyethylene) insulation material, with a long-term working temperature of 90℃ and a short-circuit temperature resistance of 250℃ (5 seconds). It has excellent insulation performance, stronger aging resistance and crack resistance, and is smokeless and halogen-free when burned, with better environmental protection; the conductor is made of oxygen-free copper material with an oxygen content of less than 0.003%, high conductivity, and the current-carrying capacity is about 35% higher than that of ordinary aluminum-core cables under the same cross-sectional area, which can effectively reduce long-distance power transmission loss; the sheath is made of PVC material, with good wear resistance and corrosion resistance, and local armoring design can be selected according to construction needs to enhance mechanical protection performance. This product is suitable for low-voltage power transmission scenarios of PV projects, able to stably transmit the electric energy output by the inverter, ensuring the safety and efficiency of power transmission.
The medium-voltage side (step-up grid connection) adopts 12/24kV XLPE Medium-Voltage Cable, with specifications of 1×150mm² and 1×240mm², which is the core cable for realizing PV power step-up grid connection. This product uses XLPE insulation layer and PVC sheath, and its structure includes conductor, insulation layer, shielding layer and sheath. It has excellent electrical performance, high insulation resistance, partial discharge capacity ≤5pC, and can withstand stable transmission under high-voltage environment; the conductor is made of high-purity copper conductor with an enlarged cross-sectional area design, which further reduces transmission voltage drop and loss, adapting to the long-distance step-up grid connection needs of the project; it has good waterproof and corrosion resistance, and can adapt to complex environments around farmland and water areas. At the same time, it has passed UL1072 certification, complying with international medium-voltage cable standards, ensuring the compliance and safety of the grid connection process.
In addition, all our American standard wires have corresponding American standard certifications, and the entire series of products have undergone strict factory inspections to ensure consistent quality of each batch of cables, with a service life of 25 years, fully matching the long-term stable operation needs of the project.
Customized Solutions: Addressing Pain Points and Promoting Efficient Project Implementation
In response to the customer's six core pain points, we set up a professional technical team to in-depth connect with project needs, and combined with local Dutch grid policies, terrain characteristics and project phased development plans, formulated a full-process customized solution to solve project problems one by one and promote the orderly progress of the project.
To address the problem of tight grid connection capacity and inability to achieve full power generation, we adopted a phased access design. Combined with the installed capacity of each stage of the project, we optimized the cable route planning and reserved cable routes for capacity expansion, ensuring that there is no need to re-lay cables when the project is expanded in the later stage. At the same time, we communicated and coordinated with local grid departments to optimize the access scheme, shorten the grid connection queuing time, help customers achieve phased full power generation, and maximize power generation benefits. Compared with the traditional one-time access scheme, our phased design is more flexible, able to adapt to the dynamic changes of grid capacity, and effectively solve the pain point of limited grid connection.
To solve the problem of complex phased development and repeated adjustments of cable schemes, we established a unified DC/AC/MV specification library. Combined with the needs of each stage of the project, we formulated standardized cable schemes in advance, clarifying the cable specifications, dosage and laying requirements of each stage, reducing the frequency of scheme adjustments. At the same time, we arranged technical personnel to follow up the project design progress throughout the process, respond to the customer's adjustment needs in a timely manner, and quickly optimize the cable scheme, avoiding project delays caused by repeated schemes and ensuring the smooth connection of each stage of development.
To address the problem of excessive long-distance power transmission loss, we increased the cable cross-sectional design. The AC side selected 3×120mm² and 3×185mm² YJV cable XLPE Insulated 0.6/1kV Copper Cable, and the medium-voltage side selected 1×150mm² and 1×240mm² 12/24kV XLPE Medium-Voltage Cable. By increasing the conductor cross-sectional area, using high-conductivity oxygen-free copper material, and combining with the low-loss characteristics of XLPE insulation material, the line loss is controlled within 2%, which is much lower than the industry average, effectively improving power generation efficiency and reducing energy consumption costs. Compared with ordinary small-section cables, although the initial purchase cost of our large-section cables is slightly higher, in the long run, it can save customers a lot of electricity expenses by reducing losses, with higher cost performance.
To solve the problem of complex terrain and limited construction routes, we optimized the cable design. The DC side H1Z2Z2-K Solar Cable adopts a high-flexibility structure, which can be bent flexibly, adapting to the complex construction routes around farmland and water areas, without large-scale excavation, reducing the impact on agricultural production and the surrounding environment; at the same time, we adopted a waterproof + local armoring scheme for some outdoor laid cables, enhancing the waterproof and mechanical damage resistance of the cables, avoiding cable damage, water ingress and other problems caused by complex terrain, ensuring the smooth progress of construction and reducing construction difficulty and costs.
To address the problem of high maintenance difficulty and strict requirements for long-term stability, we selected 25-year service life grade cable products. All cables adopt low-failure rate structural design. The insulation layer thickness tolerance of H1Z2Z2-K Solar Cable is controlled within ±0.05mm, and both YJV cables and medium-voltage cables have undergone strict thermal cycle voltage resistance tests and partial discharge tests to ensure long-term operation stability. At the same time, we provide customers with detailed maintenance guidelines, clarifying the daily inspection and maintenance points of cables, helping customers reduce maintenance difficulty, reduce failure rate, and ensure long-term stable power generation of the project.
To solve the problem of long supply chain cycle and uncertain price and supply, we adopted a long-cycle framework stockpiling + phased consistent production model. We reserve core specifications of cable products in advance according to the cable needs of each stage of the project to ensure the timeliness of phased delivery; at the same time, we have a stable raw material supply chain, which can effectively avoid the impact of raw material price fluctuations, provide customers with stable price quotes, ensure the stability of project budget, and avoid project stagnation caused by delayed delivery.
Dual Support of Certification and Quality, Building a Solid Safety Line for PV Projects
Safety is the core of long-term stable operation of PV projects and the primary principle of our customer service. In this project, we have always adhered to international standards, and comprehensively built a project safety line from product certification, quality inspection to construction guidance to ensure the safe and compliant use of cables.
In terms of product certification, our H1Z2Z2-K Solar Cable has TUV certification (Certificate No. B 126326 0001 Rev.00), fully complying with European PV cable safety standards and able to pass the acceptance of local grid departments smoothly, ensuring the compliance and versatility of products, and solving the customer's core concerns about product certification. These certifications are not only a strong proof of product quality, but also the key for us to successfully enter the Dutch market and gain customer trust. Different from some uncertified and non-compliant cable products, our products can be directly adapted to local Dutch project standards without additional rectification.

In terms of quality inspection, we have established a full-process quality control system. Every link from raw material procurement, production and processing to finished product delivery is strictly inspected. Raw materials are selected from high-purity oxygen-free copper, high-quality XLPE and XLPO materials to ensure raw material quality; during the production process, three-layer co-extrusion technology is adopted to optimize the flow field distribution, ensuring that the cable surface is smooth and round, and the insulation layer is uniform, avoiding defects such as bubbles and scratches; before leaving the factory, each batch of cables undergoes multiple tests such as resistance, insulation performance, voltage resistance performance and flame retardant performance to ensure that the cable performance meets the standards, and unqualified products are resolutely not allowed to leave the factory. At the same time, all cables leaving the factory are attached with a unique traceable QR code, which can query the raw material batch, production process and test report, realizing full life cycle traceability.
In terms of construction safety, we arranged professional technical personnel to go to the Dutch project site to provide cable laying guidance services. In strict accordance with local construction specifications and safety standards, we guided the construction team to lay, wire and fix the cables to ensure the safety and standardization of the construction process; at the same time, we reminded the construction team to do a good job in on-site safety protection measures, equipped with safety helmets, safety belts and other protective equipment, avoiding safety accidents during the construction process, and ensuring the safety of construction personnel and project property.
