In early 2023, our team partnered with a local energy engineering firm in Kuwait to supply high-quality wires for the Al Khobar Rooftop Solar Project, a large-scale commercial rooftop photovoltaic project located in Al Khobar, Kuwait. 1. The Client’s Urgent Challenges and Needs
The client, a leading energy engineering company in Kuwait with extensive experience in renewable energy projects, faced multiple critical challenges when preparing for the Al Khobar Rooftop Solar Project. First, the project had a tight timeline, as the client needed to complete the rooftop solar installation before the peak summer season in Kuwait, when temperatures often exceed 45°C. Delays in wire supply would directly push back the project schedule, leading to increased costs and missed deadlines. 2. Choosing the Right Wires for the Kuwaiti Environment
After in-depth communication with the client and a detailed analysis of the project’s requirements, our team recommended two core wire products: H1Z2Z2-K Solar Cable for the DC side and H07ZZ-F for the AC side. We also provided additional supporting wires to meet the project’s diverse needs, ensuring every part of the solar system had the right wire solution.
For the DC side connection between solar panels and inverters, we recommended the H1Z2Z2-K Solar Cable, which is specifically designed for photovoltaic systems and perfectly suited for Kuwait’s harsh outdoor conditions. The most commonly used specification in this project was , with a total order quantity of 9,100 meters. We also supplied additional specifications of H1Z2Z2-K Solar Cable, including 1x2.5mm (5,200 meters) and 1x6mm (3,900 meters), to meet different current-carrying requirements in various parts of the system. Unlike ordinary PVC cables, which tend to crack and degrade within 1-3 years under strong UV radiation and high temperatures, the H1Z2Z2-K Solar Cable uses halogen-free cross-linked polymer insulation and sheath, which can withstand temperatures ranging from -40°C to +125°C and has excellent UV and ozone resistance. This ensures the cable can maintain stable performance for more than 25 years, matching the service life of the solar panels themselves.
For the AC side, we selected the H07ZZ-F cable, which is ideal for transmitting alternating current from inverters to the power grid. We supplied multiple specifications of H07ZZ-F, including 3x4mm²+1x2.5mm² (4,200 meters), 3x6mm²+1x4mm² (2,900 meters), and 2x2.5mm² (1,800 meters), to adapt to different power transmission needs. The H07ZZ-F cable features a flexible tinned copper conductor that ensures excellent electrical conductivity and reduces energy loss, while its flame-retardant and halogen-free sheath meets the client’s safety requirements—releasing no toxic or corrosive gases in case of fire, which is crucial for commercial buildings with high safety standards. Compared to other similar AC cables, the H07ZZ-F is more flexible and easier to install in tight rooftop spaces, reducing installation time and labor costs.

Our team also provided supporting wires, including 1x1.5mm² control wires (2,100 meters) for connecting sensors and monitoring equipment, and yellow and green (GNYE) grounding wires (1,500 meters) to ensure the system’s lightning protection and electrical safety. The comprehensive product range eliminated the client’s need to work with multiple suppliers, simplifying the procurement process and reducing logistics costs.

In addition to certifications, we implemented strict quality control throughout the production and delivery process. Each batch of wires undergoes rigorous testing, including electrical performance (voltage resistance, insulation resistance), mechanical performance (wear resistance, bending resistance), and environmental performance (UV resistance, high-temperature resistance) tests. For the 1x4mm H1Z2Z2-K Solar Cable, we conducted additional DC voltage tests at 1800V to ensure it could withstand the high voltage of the solar system’s DC side. All test reports were provided to the client, demonstrating our commitment to quality and transparency.

The H07ZZ-F cables on the AC side have also performed reliably, with excellent flame-retardant and insulation properties, ensuring the safe transmission of electricity to the power grid. The client reported that the system’s overall energy loss rate is lower than expected, which is partly attributed to the high-quality wires we supplied. The project now generates approximately 3.2 MW of clean energy per year, reducing carbon emissions by more than 2,800 tons annually and helping the client achieve its sustainability goals.
