Brazil Arenas Brasil Project
GERITEL
Mar 31,2026
In 2025, as part of Brazil’s national "Arenas Brasil" program, a large-scale construction project of public gymnasiums and sports centers was launched in São Paulo State. This initiative, led by the Brazilian government to promote sports popularization and social inclusion, involves the construction of 12 public sports facilities across 8 cities in São Paulo, including Francisco Morato and other metropolitan areas. The project requires high-quality, certified electrical cables to ensure the safe and stable operation of lighting, ventilation, scoreboards, and emergency power systems in these high-traffic public spaces. As a professional electrical cable exporter, Dongguan GERITEL Electrical Co., Ltd. successfully won the bid for the project’s cable supply, providing XHHW and MC Cable solutions that perfectly addressed the client’s core pain points and delivered exceptional project value.
1. The Urgency of Reliable Cables for Brazil’s Public Sports Infrastructure
The 2025 "Arenas Brasil" program in São Paulo State is a key public welfare project aimed at democratizing sports access and improving community well-being. The construction includes 8 public gymnasiums (each with a capacity of 500-1,000 people) and 4 comprehensive sports centers, covering basketball courts, football fields, fitness zones, and training rooms. All facilities require round-the-clock electrical supply, and the cables used must withstand high humidity, frequent temperature changes, and heavy electrical loads—common challenges in Brazil’s subtropical climate.
Before cooperating with our company, the project contractor faced three critical pain points. First, the Brazilian government strictly requires all imported electrical products to hold complete UL certifications, as local electrical safety standards align with U.S. NEC (National Electrical Code) regulations. Many cable suppliers the contractor initially contacted failed to provide full UL certifications for XHHW and MC Cable, making their products ineligible for the project. Second, the contractor needed cables with high durability and stability to avoid frequent maintenance, which would disrupt the project schedule and increase costs. Traditional YC Rubber-sheathed Cables, which are cheaper but less durable, could not meet the long-term use needs of public sports facilities, as they are prone to damage from moisture and vibration. Third, the project had a tight timeline—all cables needed to be delivered within 60 days to avoid delaying the construction schedule, and the contractor struggled to find a supplier with sufficient production capacity and efficient logistics for large-scale orders.
After extensive market research, the contractor chose Dongguan GERITEL Electrical Co., Ltd. because of our complete UL certifications, rich experience in large-scale public project cooperation, and high-cost performance—factors that directly addressed their core concerns.
2. XHHW& MC Cable Tailored for Public Sports Facilities
Based on the project’s specific needs, our team conducted in-depth communication with the contractor to design a targeted cable solution, focusing onXHHW and MC Cable—two types of cables perfectly suited for public sports infrastructure. We also supplemented with specific sizes to ensure compatibility with the project’s electrical design.
The XHHW cables we provided are primarily used for power distribution in the gymnasiums and sports centers, which is why we selected theXHHW electric cable for distribution with specifications ranging from 12 AWG to 4/0 AWG, rated at 600V. Unlike traditional PVC-insulated cables, XHHW features cross-linked polyethylene (XLPE) insulation, which offers superior heat resistance (up to 90°C in both wet and dry environments) and moisture resistance—critical for São Paulo’s humid climate. This insulation also has high dielectric strength, reducing the risk of short circuits caused by environmental factors. Compared to other distribution cables,XHHW is more flexible, making it easier to install in tight spaces such as ceiling cavities and wall ducts, which are common in sports facility construction.

For areas requiring enhanced mechanical protection, such as outdoor sports fields and equipment rooms, we provided MC Cable (Metal-Clad Cable) in sizes 14 AWG to 2 AWG, 600/1000V. MC Cable consists of multiple insulated conductors enclosed in a robust interlocking aluminum sheath, providing superior protection against physical damage, vibration, and electromagnetic interference (EMI)—a key advantage over conventional YC Rubber-sheathed Cables. YC Rubber-sheathed Cables, which are often used in household applications, lack the metal sheath and have a lower temperature rating (75°C), making them unsuitable for industrial and public facility use. The MC Cable we supplied also includes a bare copper grounding conductor that meets NEC Table 250.122 requirements, ensuring additional safety in high-traffic public spaces. For direct burial and outdoor installations, we added a low-temperature PVC jacket to the MC Cable to enhance corrosion resistance.
To further optimize cost-effectiveness, we adjusted the cable specifications according to different usage scenarios: smaller 12-14 AWG XHHW cables for lighting circuits, medium 8-4 AWG for ventilation and scoreboard systems, and larger 2-4/0 AWG for main power distribution. This tailored approach ensured the contractor only paid for what they needed, without compromising on quality or performance.
3. Complete UL Certifications and Strict Quality Control
The most critical advantage that set us apart from other suppliers is our complete UL certifications. We hold full UL certifications for both XHHW (UL 44) and MC Cable (UL 1569), as well as compliance with IEEE 1202 and NFPA 70 (NEC Article 330) standards—all required by the Brazilian government for public infrastructure projects. Unlike many competitors who only hold partial certifications or fake certificates, our certifications are verifiable through the UL online product guide, giving the contractor and the Brazilian government full confidence in the product’s safety.
In addition to certifications, we implemented strict quality control throughout the production process. All XHHW and MC Cable products were made with high-purity copper conductors (ASTM B-3 standard) to ensure low resistance and stable power transmission. The XLPE insulation for XHHW cables was produced using the ICEA Method 1, ensuring uniform thickness and excellent insulation performance. For MC Cable, the interlocking aluminum sheath was welded continuously to prevent moisture penetration, and each cable underwent a series of tests—including voltage resistance, insulation resistance, and mechanical strength tests—before leaving the factory. We also provided a detailed quality inspection report for each batch of cables, allowing the contractor to track and verify product quality at every step.
4. On-Time Delivery and Professional Support
Meeting the tight 60-day delivery deadline was a key challenge for the project, and our team developed a detailed execution plan to ensure on-time delivery. First, we prioritized the production of the XHHW and MC Cable orders, allocating dedicated production lines and raw material reserves to avoid delays. The total order quantity was 180,000 meters, including 120,000 meters of XHHW cables and 60,000 meters of MC Cable. We advanced production efficiently, significantly shortened the delivery cycle, and completed all cable production ahead of schedule.
For logistics, we partnered with a professional international shipping company with extensive experience in Brazilian exports, choosing a direct shipping route from Shenzhen Port to Santos Port (Brazil) to minimize transit time. We also handled all customs clearance documents in advance, including UL certification copies, quality inspection reports, and commercial invoices, to avoid delays at Brazilian customs. The cables were packaged in moisture-proof and shock-proof wooden reels to prevent damage during transportation, and we assigned a dedicated project manager to track the shipment in real time, providing the contractor with updates on the cargo’s location and expected arrival time.
Upon delivery, our technical team provided remote guidance to the contractor’s installation team, explaining the installation requirements for XHHW and MC Cable—such as proper pulling methods for MC Cable and insulation protection for XHHW in wet areas. This professional support ensured the installation was completed smoothly and in line with safety standards.
5. Safe, Stable Operation and Client Satisfaction
By the end of 2025, all 12 public gymnasiums and sports centers in São Paulo State were successfully completed and put into use, with our XHHW and MC Cable solutions operating stably without any electrical failures. The XHHW electric cable for distribution ensured efficient power supply to all areas of the facilities, from the main power distribution panels to individual lighting fixtures and equipment. The MC Cable’s robust metal sheath effectively protected the cables from physical damage and moisture, reducing maintenance costs and extending the service life of the electrical system.
The project contractor was highly satisfied with our products and services. They noted that our complete UL certifications eliminated the risk of non-compliance with Brazilian safety standards, while the high quality of the XHHW and MC Cable ensured long-term stable operation. The on-time delivery also helped them meet the project’s construction schedule, avoiding costly delays. Additionally, our cost-effective solutions allowed them to stay within budget without compromising on quality—an important factor for public welfare projects with limited funding.
