In 2024, we successfully completed the wire export supply for the Croatia Dubrovnik Hotel Rooftop PV Project, providing a full set of high-quality photovoltaic wire solutions for this commercial rooftop photovoltaic system. We helped the customer achieve green energy transformation, and at the same time, relying on professional services and compliant certifications, we successfully solved multiple difficulties in the implementation of local photovoltaic projects in Croatia. Focusing on the commercial photovoltaic field, this project mainly supplied three core products: Photovoltaic Cables, Low-voltage Cables and Control Cables, all of which fully complied with EU standards, balancing practicality and durability, and becoming a high-quality case of Chinese wire exports to the Croatian photovoltaic market.
I. Croatian Photovoltaic Market Opportunities and Customer's Core Needs
As an EU member state, Croatia is in a critical transition period from the early development stage to the growth stage of the photovoltaic market. The government has introduced a series of incentive policies such as net metering systems and feed-in tariffs for renewable energy, encouraging commercial and industrial electricity users to build distributed photovoltaic systems for self-consumption. Small-scale rooftop photovoltaic projects have become the mainstream trend in the market. According to statistics, Croatia has an annual sunshine duration of 2,000 to 2,700 hours, with abundant solar energy resources. The government plans to increase the proportion of renewable energy in the energy structure to 42.5% by 2030, providing broad space for the development of photovoltaic projects.
The Dubrovnik Hotel cooperating this time is located on the Adriatic coast. It planned to build a distributed photovoltaic system on the hotel rooftop to meet the hotel's daily electricity needs, reduce operating costs, respond to Croatia's green transition policy, and enhance the hotel's environmental image. However, the customer faced multiple pain points in the project advancement, which hindered the project implementation: first, the local policies are gradually opening up, but the approval cycle is long and unstable, and the subsidy application and net metering registration processes are complex, and the customer lacks relevant experience; second, the hotel rooftop space is limited and the layout is complex, and as a commercial building, the rooftop load-bearing capacity has strict requirements, so it is necessary to maximize the use of space to improve power generation efficiency; third, Dubrovnik is a coastal area, and the rooftop photovoltaic system is long-term exposed to strong ultraviolet rays, wind, rain and other outdoor environments, so the customer is worried that ordinary cables are prone to aging and short service life, which will affect the long-term stable operation of the system; fourth, the rooftop is uneven, the inverters and combiner boxes are scattered, making wiring difficult, and the local construction team is not familiar with the installation specifications of photovoltaic special cables; fifth, the distributed photovoltaic grid connection process is complex with many access restrictions, and there is a concern that the power generation cannot be smoothly connected to the grid, affecting the economic benefits of the project.
After comparing multiple suppliers, the customer finally chose us. The core considerations are that we have complete product certifications, rich experience in undertaking similar projects, fast delivery guarantee, and can provide one-stop solutions from policy consultation to construction guidance, which can fully solve their core pain points.
II. Customized Cable Combination Centered on Project Needs
The smooth advancement of the Dubrovnik Hotel Rooftop PV Project is inseparable from the support of cables that are suitable for the scene, compliant with standards, efficient and durable. Combined with the project's coastal outdoor environment, complex rooftop layout, difficult wiring and local compliance requirements, we customized a full set of cable combinations of "DC photovoltaic transmission + AC grid access + control signal transmission" for the customer. The three products perform their respective duties and accurately match the needs of each link of the project. They not only meet EU certification standards, but also solve the core pain points of the project, forming a distinct difference from ordinary cables, which has become the key reason for the customer to choose us.
To meet the core power transmission needs between the hotel rooftop photovoltaic modules, inverters and combiner boxes, we first selected 4 mm² H1Z2Z2-K Cables, whose core function is to achieve efficient transmission of electricity generated by photovoltaic modules, reduce power loss, and lay the foundation for the stable operation of the entire photovoltaic system. Considering the strict requirements of local project approval in Croatia, this H1Z2Z2-K cable has passed the dual authoritative certifications of TUV and UL4703, with the TUV certificate number B 126326 0001 Rev.00, which can be directly adapted to the compliance acceptance of photovoltaic projects in Croatia and the EU. This is also its core advantage different from ordinary cables—ordinary cables lack photovoltaic-specific certifications, cannot pass local approval, and are difficult to adapt to long-term outdoor working conditions. Combined with the characteristics of high temperature, high humidity and strong ultraviolet rays in coastal Dubrovnik, the cable is made of high-quality weather-resistant materials, with multi-strand oxygen-free copper conductors, which have excellent electrical conductivity and low resistance loss; the insulation layer is made of UV-resistant and high-temperature-resistant materials, with a working temperature range of -40℃ to 90℃, which can perfectly adapt to the local climate and will not age or crack when exposed to the outdoors for a long time; the black UV-resistant sheath has both waterproof and anti-corrosion functions, which can effectively resist the erosion of wind, rain and salt spray, with a service life of more than 25 years, far exceeding the 10-15 years of ordinary cables. At the same time, its moderate flexibility is also convenient for wiring in the complex layout of the rooftop, alleviating the wiring problem of the uneven rooftop.

In the link of connecting the inverter output power to the hotel building's power grid, we matched H07RN-F 5x6 mm² (one of which is a ground wire) Low-voltage AC Cables. Its core function is to safely and stably connect the low-voltage alternating current converted by the inverter to the internal power grid of the building, providing power support for the hotel's daily operation. This cable is a low-voltage flexible rubber sheathed type, specially adapted to the commercial rooftop photovoltaic installation scenario. Compared with ordinary AC cables, its flexible rubber sheath has extremely strong weather resistance and outdoor resistance, which can adapt to complex outdoor environments such as high and low temperatures and humidity. It also has good mechanical damage resistance, suitable for bending and dragging during rooftop wiring, which can effectively avoid cable damage during construction and reduce later maintenance costs. The cable conductor is made of multi-strand copper wire, with stable electrical conductivity and reasonable core arrangement. The setting of the ground wire can effectively prevent leakage hazards during the operation of the photovoltaic system, complying with EU low-voltage electrical safety standards and adapting to the usage scenario of the hotel with dense personnel; the large current-carrying capacity can meet the power output needs of the hotel's photovoltaic system, and it can be directly adapted to the local power grid system in Croatia without additional modification, reducing construction procedures. At the same time, the product has passed IEC national standard certification, further ensuring compliance and quality stability, and helping the project pass local acceptance smoothly.
To meet the signal transmission needs between the inverter monitoring, sensors and control system in the photovoltaic system, we supporting suppliedRVV 3×1.5 mm² Control Cables. Its core function is to realize smooth signal transmission between various equipment, ensuring the real-time monitoring and normal operation of the photovoltaic system. Combined with the pain points of scattered arrangement of inverters and combiner boxes on the hotel rooftop and limited wiring space, the core advantage of this control cable is its extremely strong flexibility and convenient wiring. Compared with ordinary control cables, it is made of stranded multi-strand copper wire, which can be bent freely, and can be flexibly routed between scattered equipment without large-scale modification of the rooftop structure, greatly reducing the labor and time costs required for wiring. In addition, the cable insulation layer is made of flame-retardant material, with excellent insulation performance, which can effectively prevent signal interference, avoid the impact on the operation of the photovoltaic system due to signal interruption, and ensure that the hotel's photovoltaic system can real-time monitor the operation status and timely troubleshoot faults; the product has passed IEC national standard certification, with guaranteed quality, and the gray cable is easy to distinguish from other cables, improving construction efficiency and later maintenance convenience, perfectly adapting to the needs of long-term stable operation of the hotel's photovoltaic system.
